5 Arrested In Connection To HK Boyband Mirror Concert Accident
Five people have been arrested in connection with the accident involving a falling LED screen that left two dancers injured at Hong Kong boyband Mirror's concert in July.
The police conducted a series of raids across Hong Kong at 6am this morning (Nov 11) and arrested four men and one woman, aged 40 to 63.
They are believed to be staff members from main stage contractor Engineering Impact and subcontractor Hip Hing Loong Stage Engineering Company, including a production manager and project coordinators.
According to the South China Morning Post, they were detained on suspicion of fraud or allowing an object to fall from height.
Fraud charges carry a potential 14-year jail term, while the latter carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a HK$10,000 (S$1.77K) fine.

On July 27, a video screen weighing around 600 kilograms fell during the concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, hitting two dancers on stage.
One of the dancers Mo Li, 27, suffered a fractured cervical vertebra and is at risk of being paralysed from neck down. He has since undergone at least two surgeries, but remains hospitalised.
His father revealed last month that a cervical collar had been removed and that Mo is now able to turn his head to see outside his ward for the first time since his injury.

A multi-departmental task force was set up by the government to investigate incident and the report could be unveiled as early as today.
Preliminary investigations showed that the weight of the screen had been under-reported and also blamed the substandard cable and an incorrectly installed rope guard for the accident.
It said that the China-made steel wire that suspended the screen had snapped due to “metal fatigue”.
