Angie Chiu, 66, Just Did Her First Live Stream & It Was Really Awkward

Well, not everyone is cut out to be a live stream host.

Veteran Hongkong star Angie Chiu, whom Chinese audiences know better as Zhao Yazhi, has been in showbusiness for some 48 years.

However her decades of experience in front of the camera did not come in handy when the 66-year-old took part in the first live stream of her career.

During the session, Angie was asked by her co-host, Chinese live streamer Mr Dong if she had been to Shenzhen before, and what the city is best known for.

Angie pondered for a moment before finally replying: “[Shenzhen is known for] its benefits. There’s a lot of benefits included when you live stream.”

Um, say what?

Surprised by Angie's nonsensical answer, Mr Dong tried to salvage the situation by asking the actress is she knows what is Shenzhen's most famous product.

Again, Angie took a long time to ponder the question. However, this time, she gave the right answer: Jewellery and gold , which surprise, surprise, were what they were selling on the live stream.

When Angie was asked to guess the price of the gold bracelets they were selling, she again paused to think before saying, “A few thousand dollars?”

Mr Dong, who was looking very defeated at this point, then emphasised that they retail for a five-figure sum. Upon hearing that, all Angie could do was to force a smile and respond with, “Okay, that’s good.”

According to netizens, it was so awkward, one could almost hear crickets.

Thankfully, the rest of the broadcast went smoothly in comparison, though netizens have called for Angie to either “do some research before going on live stream” or to “leave such jobs for people who are more suited for hosting”.
