Anita Mui’s Brother Apologises To 98-Year-Old Mum; Says He Has Broken Up With His Mistress
The brother of late Cantopop diva Anita Mui, Mui Kai Ming, 70, has publicly apologised to his 98-year-old mother, Tam Mei Kam, after his wife alleged that he and his mistress had been trying to cheat his elderly mum’s money.
The relationship between mother and son began to sour late last year when Kai Ming sued the production company behind the Anita Mui biopic for alleged trademark infringements.
He insisted that he had done no wrong even after his mum disowned him when he refused to drop the lawsuit.
However, on Saturday (Mar 26), Kai Ming reached out to the press with a statement apologising to his mum, his Malaysian wife, Joey, 57, and their 12-year-old son.
The statement read: “I, Mui Kai Ming, am in the wrong. I have sinned and I have failed to live up to my mother's expectations, my wife's love, and am not a good role model to my son. I did not fulfill my responsibilities as a son, husband and father, I hurt them with my actions and infidelity, and should not have gotten involved with [his mistress]." .

He has decided to leave his mistress
Kai Ming added that he has decided to leave his mistress, May May, and apologised to his family for his irresponsible remarks.
He had previously told reporters that it was Mei Kam’s idea to sue the production company and that he was merely acting on her instructions.
He also alleged that his mum accepted monetary benefits, which is why she later changed her mind and told him to terminate the lawsuit. When he refused, she disowned him.
Kai Ming also accused relatives and others around her of instigating her to sever ties with him.

He promises to be a good son, husband, and father
Justifying his unreasonable behaviour, Kai Ming said that as the eldest child, he had to take on the responsibility of taking care of his three younger siblings at an early age.
He hated this responsibility which eventually led to his self-indulgent ways. He said: "I apologise to my mother and thank her for their tolerance and support. In future, I will try my best to fulfill my responsibility as a son and take good care of my elderly mother."
In addition, Kai Ming also apologised to his wife and son, saying that he has reflected on his actions: “I understand that my infidelity has hurt my wife and son, and affected my son emotionally. I hope my wife and son will give me a chance to make amends. I will learn from this and not make the same stupid mistakes again.”

Kai Ming with his wife and son
Kai Ming later told reporters that his wife and son have forgiven him. In fact, it was his son who wrote the statement on his behalf.
When asked if he had split with his mistress, Kai Ming replied: "Yes, [we have] broken up. What’s most important is that this doesn’t affect my kid and that he is happy."
While he’s not sure if his mum has forgiven him, he said that “she should be fine” and all that matters is that he is a good son.
