Benny Chan & Wife Slammed For Saying They Deal With Leftover Food By Giving It To Their Nanny

One of the pitfalls of the ever-growing live stream trend is that boo-boos made on air can’t be taken back.

While some things, such as accidentally turning off the beauty filter during a stream are more embarrassing than damaging to one's career, others, such as this tone deaf comment made by celeb couple Benny Chan and Lisa Jiang, are serious enough to warrant a huge backlash.

It all started when Benny and Lisa decided to go live while having a meal.

As there was a lot of food that was left uneaten on the table, a netizen asked the couple about they would do with the leftovers.

Without thinking, Lisa said: “We’ll give it to the nanny”.

The couple is believed to have a nanny to look after their four kids, Elizabeth and Cyrus, who are both seven, Isabella, six, and Victoria, four.

Netizens did not appreciate Lisa's offhand response and went on to slam the couple for being “unsanitary” and “treating a nanny like dirt".

They also pointed out that the pair should have put aside a portion of the food for their nanny since they knew they couldn't finish everything.

After reading the negative comments on the stream, Benny and Lisa abruptly ended the live stream and did not comment further on the matter.

Netizens have also dug up an old clip of Benny on a variety show, where he said their nanny sleeps on the living room sofa as they don’t have much space at home.

It's not surprising that netizens have since started accusing the couple of mistreating their nanny by making her feel like a “second-class citizen”.

When Lisa went on live stream again, she was grilled about her remarks, to which she explained that she “allows [their] nanny eat to whatever she wants”.

Lisa also said that her nanny is allowed to cook her own food if she wishes as she “completely trusts” her.

As for where the nanny sleeps, Lisa clarified that she now sleeps in a bed of her own in one of their daughter’s bedrooms.
