Brandon Wong wears all red at Star Awards again; wins more awards than he did last year: “My underwear isn’t red!”

Brandon Wong donned an all-red outfit at last year’s Star Awards and ended up clinching his first ever award — a Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste trophy — after 27 years in the business.
This year, the 51-year-old veteran actor wore yet another fiery angpow red suit, and snagged not one, but two awards this year. Among them is his first acting award — he clinched his first Best Supporting Actor win for his role in Dark Angel, after being nominated six times in the category — and also took home his second Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste award.
“As an actor, it’s always been my dream to be recognised for professional acting awards. It has taken me 28 years to achieve this dream. In the past 28 years, the dream may be beautiful, but reality is cruel,” he said in his Best Supporting Actor acceptance speech during the awards ceremony at Marina Bay Sands.
“I’ve experienced many ups and downs, but I’ve always maintained my passion for acting, and that has kept the fire in my heart going.”
Matching the red-hot passion that he has for his job are Brandon’s red-hot Star Awards outfits. For the second year running, he’s donned flaming all-red suits to the awards ceremony. Is red his lucky colour?
“I’m not a superstitious person!” he tells 8Days.sg when we caught up with him fresh from his Best Supporting Actor win.
In fact, he revealed that the colour wasn’t the reason he went with this outfit.
“I chose this suit because I liked the design, and it happened to be red. But everyone’s been asking me if has brought me luck, so okay, I guess red’s my lucky colour!
“And no, my underwear is not red!” he quipped with a laugh.
Well, with all the good luck that these red OOTDs are bringing him, no harm stocking up on red underwear for next year, perhaps?
