Bride-To-Be Kim Lim’s Guo Da Li Ceremony Had $2mil Worth Of Gifts (Including Rolex Watches & Hermès Bags)

Heiress and entrepreneur Kim Lim said “yes” to her fiancé’s proposal — which came with a massive rock that’s said to be worth as much as an “HDB flat” — in September last year, and the couple had their Guo Da Li on Wednesday afternoon (Feb 16).

Needless to say, it was a super opulent affair, with gifts piled up halfway towards the ceiling (more on that later), lion dancers, mascots, and the groom arriving in two Rolls-Royces.

Definitely not like your average Guo Da Li, as blogger Xiaxue, who was a guest at the event, pointed out to her followers (see below).

Then again, we’d feel the need to step up our Guo Da Li game too if we were marrying the daughter of billionaire philanthropist Peter Lim.

The Guo Da Li is a traditional Chinese betrothal ceremony where the bride’s and groom’s families exchange gifts and usually takes place days to weeks before the big day, which means we can look forward to seeing the lovebirds say “I do” very soon.

But yes, back to the gifts — luxury mag ICON Singapore estimated that Kim’s fiancé, who’s known only as “L” (their wedding hashtag is apparently #KLSTYLE), delivered an estimated S$2mil worth of jewellery and food items. Two million dollars.

Here’s what the gifts included, according to ICON: 15 gold bars, eight pairs of giant dragon and phoenix bangles, two huge gold necklaces, gold rings, gold earrings, two Hermès bags, a pair of Rolex watches, and a variety of (undoubtedly very expensive) dried goods.

Where are they gonna keep everything, though?

Kim, 30, has refrained from sharing too many details about her hubby-to-be. He is reportedly 33 this year, is a “long-time friend”, works in the IT industry, and seems pretty loaded himself (if you couldn’t already tell by the way he treats Kim).

For Valentine’s Day this year, L booked a staycation at a Sentosa villa and presented her with 99 giant roses with stems that were about the same height as the 1.7m-tall Kim.

The bouquet is estimated to have cost at least S$10,000.

Of course, the couple hasn’t forgotten to give back to society.

In November last year, Kim and L teamed up to provide two meals a day for 1,500 hospital frontliners for a week.

Her social enterprise Kelhealth Group, which houses her businesses Illumia Therapeutics and Papilla Haircare, also collaborated with Singapore Airlines to give essential workers air tickets to travel overseas to see their families.

Still, if their Guo Da Li was like that, we can’t even begin to imagine what their actual wedding will be like.

A huge congrats to Kim and L!
