Chapman To Starts Scholarship Fund For Hongkong Students In Taiwan After Making S$6.5mil From Selling NFTs

Chapman To, like many others, has jumped on the NFT bandwagon and earned a cool HK$38mil (S$6.5mil) by doing so.

His Feb 15 Facebook post read, “38 million Hongkong dollars! 140 million Taiwan dollars! What can I do with it? I can buy land! Start a girl group! Film a movie! (…) After earning more money, I’ll buy more land! Start any group! Film more movies! This will go on and on…”

However, he seems to have found a better use for his money. On Feb 17, he declared that he will start a “Hongkong students in Taiwan scholarship to encourage Hongkong students to work hard while living abroad”.

“As the chairman of the Taiwan-Hongkong Cultural Exchange Association, I announce that the scholarship has been established! More details to be announced," he added.

Thumbs up for his generosity

The Hongkong actor moved to Taiwan in 2020 and has been an advocate for pro-independence movements for both Hongkong and Taiwan.

When operations at Hongkong’s Apple Daily were ceased due to political pressure, he offered the employees jobs at his company and promised to match what they were paid previously. However, they declined as they had other better prospects.
