Chinese Actor Jing Boran Slammed For Showing Attitude To Airport Security Staff Who Told Him To Remove His Hat
Someone certainly looked like he didn’t have a very pleasant trip.
Travelling can be a stressful affair (especially in the midst of COVID), but with celebs getting called out and cancelled left, right, and centre for all sorts of reasons, Chinese actor Jing Boran should prooobably have been a little more mindful of his recent behaviour.
Last Sunday (Aug 29), a netizen posted a video that showed the 32-year-old exiting customs clearance at the airport when a security guard reminded him to remove his bucket hat for the temperature screening. Sounds like pretty standard procedure, right?
Well, judging from his reaction, Boran didn’t seem at all pleased with it (see the gif below), or at least, that’s what a lot of people are thinking.
Although his face was mostly covered by a mask and a pair of thick-rimmed glasses, Boran’s body language in the clip suggests that he was pretty annoyed by the request.
As soon as the security guard spoke to him, Boran impatiently ripped off his hat and turned around to seemingly glare at the officer for a few seconds before continuing with his way out, putting his hat back on with a dramatic flip.
What’s more, when he left the airport, he coldly brushed off his fans who had been waiting for him there for a very long time. According to reports, he did not look to be in a good mood (which explains his exasperated behaviour earlier on).
As you can probably imagine, netizens had plenty to say about this whole display, and Boran, who is known for having a “cultured” and “warm” image, was basically accused of being a diva.
Comments include: “He has such a poor attitude”, “Do celebrities think they are superior?”, “He is so impatient while cooperating with staff who are doing their jobs”, “His reputation is ruined”, “Is he putting on airs? What kind of expression is this?”.
However, there were also those — probably folks who know what it’s like to be in a crappy mood after flying — who defended Boran.
“That’s an airport exit lane, not a fan meet. He was right to go through quickly,” wrote one, while another pointed out that anyone would get impatient ‘cos of the extra measures put in place during the pandemic, adding that “celebrities aren’t saints whose actions should be magnified”.
