This creates body image issues: US fashion house slammed for saying they had to take in Angelababy’s dress by 11.5cm

Angelababy has always been known for being petite.

Despite her slight frame, the1.59m Chinese actress, who once revealed that she weighs 44.9kg, claims to have a huge appetite that can rival that of her male co-stars.

She apparently suffers from a genetic condition that prevents her from gaining weight.

Recently, the 34-year-old's physique sparked discussion online.

Last month, Angelababy was in New York for the re-opening of luxury jewellery brand Tiffany & Co's iconic Fifth Avenue store.

She also attended the Prince’s Trust Gala, where she looked ethereal in a custom pink tiered tulle gown with 3D flowers from Marchesa.

A design director from the American fashion house recently shared about Angelababy’s fitting session, including how they had to alter the gown at the last minute to fit the actress.

“Angelababy’s modelesque figure surprised us. In order to present the gown perfectly, we had to take in 11.5cm at the waist and modify the internal structure slightly,” she shared, adding that they managed to complete the dress a day before the event.

The post has triggered netizens who criticised the designer for creating body image issues.

There were comments like "Is being thin everything?", “Stop creating anxiety” and "Why do you want to promote how thin everyone is? Why do you give girls all kinds of anxiety? No one talks about how guys look”.

Some netizens also felt that it is an artiste’s responsibility to stay slim so that they look good on camera, and that it's unnecessary to draw attention to it.

"Why does it matter to ordinary people if female stars are thin? It doesn’t worry me", said one netizen.

Another said: "[Her] self-discipline does not affect us ordinary people's diet. Whether one is fat and thin is our own business, as long as we are happy."
