Cynthia Koh Has Always Wanted To Wear A Suit To The Star Awards, But Says She’s Too Short To Do So
It won’t be a stretch to say that this year, all eyes are on Cynthia Koh, 48, when it comes to red-carpet fashion.
After all, she did create a stir online (and in Greece!) when she turned heads in this gorgeous blue dress on the Asian Academy Creative Awards red carpet.
And of course, we have to mention the star’s cheeky joke when she was announced as one of the Top 20 nominees for the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes Award in March. At that time, she declared that she “won't be wearing anything” on-stage if she makes it into the Top 10.
Now, we have to keep things PG-13, so here’s the golden question: what’s the actress actually wearing to the Star Awards this Sunday, then?
While we don’t exactly get a straight answer in the latest episode of Mediacorp's bite-sized entertainment and lifestyle series #JustSwipeLah, which sees host Jernelle Oh, 27, going on a dress fitting session with Cynthia, we did get a couple of hints from the star herself and celeb stylist Keith Png.
She pulls off this suit pretty well, no?
First off — here’s an outfit that Cynthia has always dreamed of donning for the red carpet.
According to Cynthia, who’s 1.6m tall, she has "always wanted to wear a suit”, but is never able to pull it off well, no thanks to her height.
More infuriatingly, even if she wants to pull out the big guns, or rather, a sky-high pair of heels, she still can’t ‘win’.
"When you think that your platforms are already very high, those tall girls like Carrie Wong will wear platforms of the same height. So no matter how you compete with them, it's the same,” Cynthia says. No hate against the 1.74m Carrie, of course!

So what’s she gonna wear then?
While Cynthia and Keith didn’t go into specifics, from what they did share, it looks like we might just see something in the same vein as her Asian Academy Creative Awards dress.
"Cynthia's figure is very voluptuous, so some dresses may look too sexy. So we were a little worried [when we saw the dress Cynthia will be wearing to the Star Awards], but later on we thought that as a whole, it still looks very elegant, and makes her shine like a star,” Keith said.
