What a difference a consonant makes.

It seems that Benjamin Yuen has repeatedly been misspelling 'wife' as 'wide' when DM-ing his wife Bowie Cheung, thanks to a too small screen and too big thumbs.

The straw that has broken the camel's back is when he texted her to 'come down and have lunch la wide'.

He hastily corrected this to 'wife' with a cheeky smiley, to which Bowie responded mock-threateningly: 'Hahaha. U wanna type wrong again'.

Now we live in body-positive times. Benjamin — bless his heart and his big man thumbs — knows when he's on thin ice. He has now made a public service announcement to all the fellas among his 584,000 Instagram followers.

'Everytime I text Mrs Yuen, I make the mistake of typing 'wide' instead of 'wife'.

This is due to the tiny keyboard on my mobile phone. Plus D and F are right next to each other.

On top of that my thumbs are a little too big.

What's meant to be 'wife' or 'spouse' has turned into 'spacious' or 'expansive'.

I don't think there's any woman out there who wants to be called 'wide', much less my own wife.

So here's some friendly advice, guys: Be careful.'

To make sure that all men understand the gravity of the situation, Benjamin has shared official definitions of the word 'wife' (which can really only mean one thing, duh), as well as definitions of the word 'wide', which depending on the context, can take on meanings such as 'broad', 'vast', and 'wealthy'.

To be fair, 'wealthy' is probably the only word on that list that can be used to accurately describe Bowie, who is not just a former beauty queen but also the daughter of an undergarment tycoon.

But we doubt that Benjamin, who has shared how he feels uncomfortable when people say he married into money, would call her 'wide' just to allude to her vast riches.

For the sake of a happy marriage, Benjamin should buy a phone with a bigger screen. Thumb reduction surgery could also work. Or maybe he could just stick to calling her 'Bowie'.
