Kirsten Fok, 19, says she hopes to sing and act in dramas.
Fans of failed Miss Hong Kong 2021 contestant Kirsten Fok will be seeing a lot more of her in the future.
Despite not making it past the preliminary round of the competition, the 19-year-old, who became an internet sensation during the auditions because of her hilarious antics, has signed a contract with TVB.
Kirsten, who will still be managed by her musician brother, revealed that she is very pleased with the pay TVB is offering her and although she has no jobs for the time being, hopes to have the opportunity to sing and act in dramas.
She recently filmed a commercial with famed Hongkong insurance broker Joseph Lam, who apparently is one of her biggest fans. Joseph was the one who proposed that Kirsten's supporters raise funds so TVB can “add a place” for Kirsten in the Miss Hong Kong finals.
Though Kirsten was grateful for his support, she shared that was against him “using [her] name to blackmail other people’s money”.
I think he is a bit rude and [this] is against my principles, she said.
Joseph later clarified that he meant “no malice” and sincerely supports Kirsten, adding that he did not receive a single cent for boosting her popularity.
During the Miss Hong Kong auditions, Kirsten, who is of Chinese, Spanish and Filipino descent, became one of the most talked about contestants because of her looks and antics.
She was likened to Toy Story’s Mrs Potato Head and also Buddha 'cos of the way she raised her hand with her palm facing out during the photo call.
She also stood out for her poor command of Cantonese. Although Kirsten grew up in Hongkong and attended a Chinese school, she was enrolled in a class for foreigners and was taught in English. She is now a student at a university in the Philippines and majors in music and business management.
According to her Instagram profile, Kirsten is a musician. She has written and performed almost 40 songs, which can be found on Spotify and KKBOX, and has even released albums and singles under the moniker Lenar Bata.
