Fan Posts Throwback Photo Of Joey Wong With Short Hair That Draws A Comparison With Fei Yu-Ching

Most of the time, celebs’ childhood photos often get netizens gushing over how they were born with camera-ready good looks, but shockingly, not everyone seems to be saying the same about Joey Wong.

Recently, an Instagram fanpage dedicated to the 55-year-old former actress posted a few pics of a much younger Joey, including one from what appears to be her school’s yearbook.

All the shots feature her with short hair, and we guess some folks have gotten too used to seeing her with her signature thick, long locks, judging by their comments.

While fans — being, you know, fans — fawned over her beauty, one very critical Hongkong media outlet and a handful of netizens weren’t exactly so effusive.

Here’s what HK01 wrote: “The Joey in the photos is very young, only in her teens. She is in the prime of her youth, but she cannot be considered a beautiful girl.”

“In the photos, she has thick eyebrows and big eyes, but the outline of her features does not seem to be beautiful. She looks a little dazed and even unremarkable. Her goddess-like aura is still deeply hidden.”

“But once she got a little older, she changed from an ugly duckling into a swan, and successfully turned into a god-level beauty. Her beauty reached its peak in adulthood.”

Still not sure “ugly duckling” is the term we’d use, though

Then there were those who remarked that short-haired Joey “looks like a man”, with one even saying that they “thought it was Fei Yu-ching” in one of the pics (see above). Seriously!?

In any case, we doubt Joey’s going to be bothered by any of this chatter. The A Chinese Ghost Story star is happily enjoying a zen retirement life in Canada and still makes headlines for looking ageless and fabulous.
