Fans Shower TWICE’s Jeongyeon With Positive Comments After Netizen Posts "Shocking" New Pics Of The Star
TWICE's Jeongyeon went on a break in August to “focus on her recovery” from “panic and psychological anxiety”.
Back in August, TWICE’s label JYP Entertainment issued a statement saying that one of the K-pop group’s members, 24-year-old Jeongyeon, was experiencing “panic and psychological anxiety” and would be going on an indefinite hiatus to “focus on her recovery and rest”.
Jeongyeon previously took a three-month break from October last year for the same reason before rejoining her bandmates on stage at the Seoul Music Awards in January. She also opened up about suffering from a neck injury in June last year.
Then, last Saturday (Oct 16), two months after the latest announcement about Jeongyeon, a user on a Korean online forum posted screenshots from a video of the star and wrote, “I heard that this is Jeongyeon’s current situation, it’s quite shocking.”
In the pictures, Jeongyeon appears to have put on some weight but is also looking as radiant as ever in platinum blonde hair, rosy make-up, and a blue off-shoulder dress.
The images quickly went viral, and fans expressed their concern for Jeongyeon’s mental health should she be subjected to unnecessary attacks about her appearance (and we’ve seen just how cruel netizens can be when celebrities, especially female ones, *dare* to gain a few pounds).
Fortunately, there are many positive and supportive comments praising her “beautiful facial features” and urging haters to back off, with one explaining that it’s “normal to put on 10kg when you’ve been taking medication for psychological issues for a month”.
Other remarks include: “I just hope she is happy”, “Being a celebrity is tough” (it sure is), and “She must be under a lot of stress, why don’t you just leave her alone?”
