First Look: Daniel Radcliffe Jams On The Piano Accordion In Weird Al Yankovic Biopic
Daniel Radcliffe says portraying ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic is “a huge responsibility”.
The Weird: The ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Story star is “honoured” to be playing the legend parodist in his upcoming biopic.
The 32-year-old actor told People: "Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don't take lightly, and I'm honored to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al's depraved and scandalous life."
The 'Eat it' hitmaker shared a still from the shoot Wednesday (Feb 23) of Radcliffe in character as Yankovic replete with his signature Hawaiian shirt and piano accordion.
Yankovic, 62, wrote, "SHOOT DAY #8: It never fails - we’re trying to shoot a movie here, and this cosplayer weirdo tries to crash our set. Ugh! I mean, I love my fans, but… boundaries, people! Don’t worry, we had security throw him out."
Last week, Yankovic jokingly tweeted ‘a spoiler’ by sharing a page from the script online.
The tweet’s caption read: “SHOOT DAY #7: Oh man, I am really, REALLY going to get in trouble with @TheRokuChannel over this, but I’m just so proud of this script, and I wanted to leak part of it. So…[siren emoji}SPOILER ALERT [siren emoji]… This is the ACTUAL ENDING of #WEIRDTheAlYankovicStory.”
Weird — which is written by Al and Eric Appel — is the 'Amish Paradise' funny man’s first go at executive producing a movie since 1989’s UHF and will be available for streaming on Roku.
In a statement released in January, Yankovic said: "When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I'm very happy to say we're on schedule.
"I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for."— BANG SHOWBIZ
