Foodie Friday: What The Stars Ate This Week (Apr 15-22)
This week, Cynthia Koh shared her favourite haunt for Hainanese beef noodles, Edmund Chen and Chen Xi indulged in old-school eats, and Yvonne Lim baked carrot cake with the help of her daughter Alexa. Can you believe the five-year-old shaped these cute carrot toppers herself? Read on for more.

Cynthia Koh
What she ate: Beef noodles
Yummy factor: Cynthia loves traditional Hainanese beef noodles, and for her, nothing beats having the dry version at Blanco Court Beef Noodles — there’s just something satisfying about mixing in the rich gooey sauce with the rest of the ingredients. The actress also couldn't stop gushing about the tender beef slices, and how flavourful the accompanying herbal soup was.

Belinda Lee
What she ate: Rojak
Yummy factor: Inspired by Chen Xiuhuan to whip up her own rojak, Belinda gave the traditional recipe a twist by adding shredded ginger flower and roasted sesame seeds to her sauce. As for the usual fried you tiao, Belinda replaced it with her fave childhood snack — fish muruku — for added crunch and texture.

Yvonne Lim
What she ate: Carrot cake
Yummy factor: Yvonne spent her Saturday afternoon baking these cute creations — petite portions of carrot cake — with her daughter Alexa, and she couldn’t be prouder of her little girl’s work. The adorable carrot toppers you see were shaped by Alexa with barely any help. Could she be a budding baker in the making?

James Seah
What he ate: Fresh seafood
Yummy factor: James visited the Noryangjin Fish Market in Seoul, where he picked out live prawns, octopus, and a sizable crab with plenty of roe to be prepped for lunch at one of the restaurants on the second floor. And kudos to the brave actor for not squirming one bit while trying the wriggly octopus bits.

Fann Wong
What she ate: Bakes and buns
Yummy factor: Fann received love in the form of food this week — there’s fluffy char siew bao from her photographer friend Ade Lau, as well as homemade open-faced pineapple tarts and cookies from Sharon Au’s mum. How sweet.

Michelle Chong
What she ate: Birthday dinner at The Famous Treasure
Yummy factor: Michelle Chong’s 44th birthday party (Apr 22) was an extravagant affair to say the least, with guests like Apple Hong, Michelle Chia and Zhang Yaodong dressed in pink to celebrate her big day. Aside from delectable menu items like the roast suckling pig stuffed with glutinous rice and crabs cooked with egg whites, the birthday cake from Bob the Baker Boy definitely stole Michelle’s heart with a recreation of her favourite sight — champagne chilling in an ice bath.

Zoe Tay
What she ate: Ikura don
Yummy factor: If a rice bowl could overflow with joy, that’s probably what it would look like — juicy salmon roe cascading in abundance over fluffy Japanese pearl rice. Imagine the umami explosion with every bite.

Jeanette Aw, Chen Diya, and Carrie Yeo
What they ate: Hotpot
Yummy factor: The celeb pals gathered at Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot, where they shared bubbling broths brimming with ingredients, as well as tantalising sides that may have just stolen the show — tender tea duck, fried frog legs, and spicy beef jerky. Talk about a sumptuous dinner.

Ya Hui
What she ate: North Indian food
Yummy factor: Ya Hui had her hands full tucking into buttery garlic naan with spiced dips, creamy butter chicken and what looks like a masala dish. And according to Ya Hui, her meal tasted even better eating with hands.

Chen Xiuhuan
What she ate: Peking duck
Yummy factor: We can almost hear the crackling of caramelised skin as Xiuhuan savoured the Irish roast bird with an assortment of condiments and crunchy greens at Tunglok Peking Duck. And the braised ee-fu noodles sure looked like a real treat too, topped with substantial chunks of lobster meat.

Edmund Chen and Chen Xi
What they ate: Comfort eats
Yummy factor: It was a day of comfort eats for Edmund and Chen Xi, who enjoyed an old-school brekkie of soft-boiled eggs, crisp toast and coffee (for a mere $2.40) at Jalan Benaan Kapal Food Centre, as well as porridge, chee cheong fun and more at what appears to be popular dim sum eatery, Victor’s Kitchen.

Kayly Loh
What she ate: Lamb chops
Yummy factor: Kayly has been cooking her own meals outdoors while holidaying in Iceland, and we love how she stocked up on plenty of groceries and marinated meats. This week, she enjoyed her “super good” lamb chop, as well as stir-fried baby potatoes and greens on the side.

Jaime Teo
What she ate: Spanish dinner
Yummy factor: A craving for paella led Jaime to discovering Spanish restaurant Una, where she thoroughly enjoyed every dish. Highlights include the seafood paella she came for, as well as seared Hokkaido scallops in sherried consomme, tiger prawns sauteed in olive oil, white wine and garlic, Angus beef cheek braised in red wine and more.

Noah Yap
What he ate: Wanton mee
Yummy factor: Noah has been a fan of Bei-Ing Wanton Noodles at Roxy Square ever since primary school —imagine that. If you’re keen on patronising the food stall, he highly recommends the glistening wanton mee with black sauce with tender slices of char siew, and the “must-try'' crispy wantons with mayonnaise too.

Ferlyn Wong
What she ate: Lunch at Canopy Garden Dining
Yummy factor: It all started with a flavourful bowl of porcini soup, followed by truffle fries (a must-order, no?) and a hearty serving of pasta carbonara with a perfectly wobbly egg. And for Ferlyn, who hasn’t had the creamy pasta in months, it was “one of the best” she’s ever tried — perfect with her huge pint of beer.

Joakim Gomez
What he ate: Ramly burger
Yummy factor: Check out that grin! Joakim couldn’t be happier to see the return of the Ramadan Bazaar at Geylang Serai. Never mind that he had to wait in line for 20 minutes for his Burger Ramly Double Beef, he's just pleased to be able to get his hands on one.

Michelle Wong
What she ate: Mayo ramen
Yummy factor: Michelle decided to try out the viral ramen trend on TikTok and added an egg, garlic and mayonnaise to the usual fiery buldak sauce that came with her instant noodles. And in case you were wondering, the creaminess was on point, but the heat proved to be a little too much for Michelle.

Nick Teo
What he ate: Fish and chips
Yummy factor: Nick had a taste of nostalgia at Original Botak Jones, where he used to frequent pretty often during his secondary school days. And from the looks of it, the portion of breaded fish and fries look just as generous with an accompanying bowl of mushroom soup.

Rao Zijie
What he ate: Noodles... on the floor?
Yummy factor: Zijie was spotted having what looks like a bowl of curry noodles on the floor, and he immediately quipped in Mandarin that having your food this way makes it a lot more “dao di” — a clever pun on the Chinese word for “authentic”. Well done.

Das DD and Zhu Zeliang
What they ate: Asian and Japanese-inspired skewers
Yummy factor: It sure looked like Das and Zeliang had a grill-y good time at Taan Asian Grill Bar, where they tucked into plenty of grilled skewers with the likes of beancurd skin, chicken mid-wings, scallops and more.

Yasminne Cheng
What she ate: Omakase
Yummy factor: Yasminne began her long Good Friday weekend with tipples at Marina Bay Sands’ new Japanese restaurant Wakuda, where she also got to appreciate fine omakase eats like aburi sushi and silky-smooth yuba (fresh beancurd skin) with caviar and sea urchin.
