Former Happy Camp Host Xie Na Reveals She Suffered From Post-Natal Depression After Giving Birth To 3rd Child

Chinese host Xie Na, 40, has opened up about her battle with post-natal depression.

The vivacious host, who gave birth to her youngest daughter in May 2021, recently shared on reality show Welcome Back To Sound 2 that even though she had been depressed for while, she would put on a brave front.

"I didn't want to face the issue because I thought, 'How is it possible [that I'm depressed]? I'm an optimist and I didn’t have any issues after giving birth [the first time]," said Xie Na, who also has four-year-old twin daughters with husband, singer Jason Zhang, 39.

She added that she was "depressed about everything" and "would cry over the slightest thing".

It was only when Jason injured his hand in an accident last October that she realised she had been too dependent on him.

"He took care of everything at home... so I felt I had to work on fixing myself. From that moment, I tried to look at the funny side of things,” she said, adding that she went to seek help and gradually got better.

After her maternity leave, Xie Na resumed hosting duties on variety show Happy Camp last September. However, less than a month later, the show was suspended.

According to reports, the uncertainty over the show's future could also have contributed to Xie Na’s depression.

Chinese broadcaster Hunan TV later announced in end December that the show, which ran for 24 years, was being replaced by Hello Saturday. He Jiong is the only Happy Camp host who is on the new show.
