Golden Mile Complex’s Popular New Udon Mookata Opening New Outlet

Mookata regulars at Golden Mile Complex would have heard of New Udon Mookata. While there are many Thai barbecue restaurants in the building, New Udon is one of the oldest, having been around since 2007.

New Udon outlet

Golden Mile Complex recently made headlines as it was sold en bloc to a consortium for S$700 million. Speaking to 8days.sg, the daughter of New Udon Mookata’s founder says the restaurant is “expected to move out around May or June next year”, though it will remain open for now.

Goh Jin Na, 21, whose mother Antha Goh, 58, opened the popular mookata eatery, shares: “We are branching out — we have already found places to open. We are going to open [an outlet] at Foch Road next week.”

More outlets coming up

According to Jin Na, her family also has plans to open New Udon outlets in Jurong West and Greenwood Avenue in Bukit Timah. “We are trying to attract customers outside of Golden Mile,” she explains, adding: “We considered opening in the east side, but we don’t have any plans yet. It will most likely be in Paya Lebar.”

She reckons that “it will definitely be hard” to leave the eatery's established customer base at Golden Mile Complex. “We hope that we can still maintain [our customer pool after we move],” she says.
