Harlem Yu’s Peking Opera Star Mum Just Turned 90 But Looks Like She’s 20 Years Younger
Being praised for having age-defying good looks in your 50s, 60s, and 70s is impressive enough, but when it still happens in your 90s, you know you’re doing something right (and/or have some killer genes to be thankful for).
So now what we really wanna know is: What’s Harlem Yu’s mum’s secret?
On Wednesday (Jan 5), Harlem, 60, was spotted heading to a Chinese restaurant in the posh Palais de Chine Hotel in Taipei to celebrate his mother, Peking opera star Chang Chengfen’s 90th birthday.
Also with them was the Taiwanese singer’s wife, newscaster Jinny Chang, and their two children, as well as a few friends including veteran Taiwanese host Chang Hsiao Yen and Taiwanese actor Bu Xue Liang.

One media outlet managed to sneak some pics of them from a distance and described Chengfen as appearing “full of vitality” and “in high spirits”, but a couple of much clearer close-ups really show just how well the new nonagenarian has aged.
Taiwanese television producer Angie Chai uploaded a few photos from the gathering on her Facebook, including two group shots with Chengfen.

Can you believe Chengfen (second from left) is 90!?
“It’s beautiful Mama Yu’s 90th birthday,” Angie wrote in the caption. “She has the appearance of a 70-year-old, the spirit of a 50-year-old, and the sense of humour of a 30-year-old. Mama Yu, the godmother of traditional rock opera. Beautiful legend.”
Netizens also had lots of praise for Chengfen and left effusive comments such as: “I finally know where Harlem gets his liveliness from”, “Mama Yu is so beautiful, elegant, and has taken such good care of herself, she looks like she’s 70,” and “Mama looks super young”.

Happy birthday to Mama Yu
