Hawker Running Famous Bukit Merah Supper Spot Soon Li Yong Tau Foo Passes Away Suddenly

As much as people love the stall for its comforting food, the experience of buying the yong tau foo also makes the midnight supper run much more fun.During the Covid-19 pandemic, Soon Li Yong Tau Foo was closed for a prolonged hiatus, and only recently reopened with earlier operating hours starting from around 9pm.

The hawker uncle has passed away
But sadly, the uncle manning the stall has unexpectedly passed away. In a post on Facebook foodie group Hawkers United, fellow hawker Melvin Chew announced the Soon Li proprietor’s passing, which apparently happened this morning (Feb 22). His cause of death is unconfirmed.

Netizens left condolatory comments on the post, including one stall customer, Edwin David Goh, who said: “I just saw him on Monday morning, he was in front of his stall cutting tau kee. I heard he had a heart attack this morning.” It is also unknown whether the stall will continue operating.
