Irene Ang Touched By Outpouring Of Support From LOVE 972 Listeners In Response To Hater Who Sends In Mean Messages About Her Weekly
We’ve said it once, and we'll say it again. Netizens are often unnecessarily mean, especially when they think they’re hiding behind some form of perceived anonymity. And that was exactly what FLY Entertainment head honcho and veteran artiste Irene Ang, was subjected to recently.
The 53-year-old made a post on Instagram recently, where she revealed that she had gained a 'hater' while doing her weekly segment on LOVE 972.
Irene shared with 8days.sg when we reached out to her that the segment was started during the pandemic by DJ Mary Bukoh and Irene to "help listeners with issues and provide a platform for them to air their grievances”.
Airing every Monday at 4pm, the one-hour show sees Irene and Mary teaming up to answer questions ranging from business woes, to parenting and schooling troubles, and more.
Irene is definitely more than qualified to give advice, seeing how she has quite literally done it all, from being a former national fencer, to entering showbiz, to running her own F&B and entertainment empire.

However, the segment has not gone down well with one particular listener.
As Irene shared in her IG post, the station’s feedback line has been receiving weekly voice messages from said listener, where he complains about how much he hates Irene’s voice.
Irene added that Mary initially did not want to tell her, as she didn’t want Irene to be hurt.
"Was I hurt ? Hell yeah! I mean.. Every Monday I diligently prep myself, go on the show for [one hour] on [LOVE 972],” she wrote, adding that she just wants to share her views and hopefully perform her Aunt Agony duties well.
“I get it, that we can [never] please everyone,” she added.
You go, Irene!
She continued to share that she asked Mary to play the voice message on air, to see if there were other listeners out there with the same opinion, in the hopes that she could “reflect [and] improve”.
However, what came in instead were dozens of messages from listeners showing their support. The comments section was filled with loads of support and compliments too.
“200% support [you]. I heard that particular segment when Mary played the voice message. Wanted to write in to give you my support [but] unfortunately [I] was driving. I felt so offended by the guy’s voice message. He can jolly well switch [stations] and shut up!” one comment read.
Another netizen wrote: “Ignore the haters; You have many more loving [you] just the way you are. Your hard work & effort is clearly visible to all.”
"What came after that truly touched me,” Irene wrote, thanking everyone for their kind words.
“Truth is even after decades in this line, veteran or not, we too, [have] good and bad days. We too ,need fuel to keep going. So I worked the math, one hater [versus] these, ain't that bad hor?” Irene concluded.
