Joy Luck Teahouse’s Causeway Point Outlet Closes Down, Re-entered By Mall Landlord
Last December, local cha chaan teng chain Joy Luck Teahouse opened an outlet at Causeway Point. The franchised takeaway kiosk was run by young couple Lim Chang Rui, 30, and Yvonne Lee, 31, who forayed into F&B after closing their events company due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Their outlet was also the first to offer a Milo-flavoured bolo bun and yin yang beverage.

Outlet closed after a year
After a year in business, the owners – both former bankers – have closed their franchised venture. A post on Facebook page Singapore Atrium Sale showed a notice pasted at the outlet notifying the public that the premises had been “re-entered by the landlord” on Dec 7, 2021.

The franchisee clarifies
Franchise owner Lim Chang Rui tells 8days.sg that the re-entry notice was due to “the early termination of the tenancy lease as the business was not doing well” and that there was no overdue rent owed, adding that “there was no repossession of the Causeway Point unit by the landlord”. Joy Luck Teahouse currently has 10 outlets islandwide.
