Kayly Loh’s Floral Studio Damaged By A Fire That Broke Out In The Same Building Last Night

Kayly Loh’s Floral Studio Damaged By A Fire That Broke Out In The Same Building Last Night

“I’ll be lying if I said I’m not affected,” said the actress, whose biz has also been affected by the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on wedding and events businesses in Singapore. Among them is Mediacorp actress Kayly Loh's floral business, Bucket Full of Roses (BFOR).

Unfortunately, Kayly's business was dealt an even bigger blow when a fire broke out in the Ubi Road industrial building where her studio is located.

This morning (Jun 22), Kayly posted a series of Instagram Stories recounting the incident that happened last night.

“I received a call at almost midnight claiming that my floral studio was on fire,” she recalled. “I thought it was a prank call (and really [hoped] it was!).”

The 33-year-old immediately rushed out of the house without changing out of her pyjamas and arrived at the building in less than 10 minutes, where she saw black smoke — but no visible flames — coming out from her unit.

“At this point I have never been more afraid. I was trembling, thinking the [worst] has happened, she captioned.

When it was finally safe enough to go up, Kayly was greeted by the sight of her all-white studio “covered with soot”. She revealed that the fire did not take place in her unit, and that most of the damage in her studio was caused by smoke and soot.

  • “I’ll be lying if I said I’m not affected. I started BFOR in a tiny discussion room of my father’s office. Saved enough for years to finally own a place, a place I was proud of. This place is my pride and my second home,” she wrote.

“The pandemic has hit the wedding and events industry drastically. I am not spared. While I kept myself positive, days are (sic) like these beat me up.”

While she is understandably upset, Kayly was still able to see “many blessings”, such as the prompt action of the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the fact that nobody was injured.

At the moment, it’s not known how the fire started or where it originated from.

When 8days.sg contacted Kayly, she said that she was “still in a bit of a shock” and was busy dealing with the insurers and building management, and declined to elaborate further.
