Korean Hit Drama Crash Landing On You Is Getting An American Remake On Netflix

But where’s the fateful crash landing going to take place?

Hit drama Crash Landing On You is getting an American remake. Production company, Studio Dragon, has confirmed that they are in “final stages of a contract with Netflix” for a US version of the series.

Here’s a quick recap of how CLOY starts: Rich South Korean heiress Yoon Seri (played by Son Ye Jin) goes paragliding to test her latest line of extreme sportswear, only to get caught in a tornado and crash lands in North Korea, where she meets the swoon-worthy Captain Ri Jeonghyuk (Hyun Bin).

1 of 2 Will the remake be able to recreate the magic of the original?

To say that netizens are skeptical of a CLOY remake is an understatement. For one, many are questioning where the crash landing is going to take place.

The unique geopolitical situation that North and South Korea are in is impossible to duplicate and some netizens say dramas featuring the relationship between both countries should and can never be remade.

This includes 2014 drama Doctor Stranger, which starred Lee Jong Suk as a South Korean doctor who was forced to live in North Korea after his father was used by a South Korean politician to further his career.

2 of 2 W: Two Worlds was a hit too

CLOY is not the only drama that’s being remade.

W: Two Worlds, a murder mystery that alternates between the real world and a fictional one, has confirmed that a US version is in the works, and will be called Angel City.
