Mayday Fans Called Out For Indiscriminate Parking By Residents Living Near Kaohsiung Stadium Where The Band Is Performing

Taiwanese rock band Mayday kicked off its Mayday Fly Into 2022 concert tour with a Christmas show at the Kaohsiung National Stadium last weekend.

The show is highly anticipated for local fans as it’s the band’s first concert in the city since 2017.

Not so much for those who live near the stadium, though.

On Sunday (Dec 26), a netizen took to a private Facebook group to complain about Mayday fans being a nuisance for trespassing into private property and for parking their motorcycles indiscriminately at an alley in a nearby neighbouroood.

“Didn’t your school teach you manners? The paved cement path belongs to residents,” wrote the netizen.

"The main point is you just walked away after parking, without saying hello to the residents."

The post sparked heated comments among netizens. There were some who called the resident unreasonable, saying the alley doesn't belong to residents, and that "anyone is free to park there". Furthermore, the motorbikes weren't causing any obstruction.

There were comments like "Buying the first floor [unit] doesn’t mean you own the road", "Show the certificate of title to prove that the land is [theirs] first" and "You use potted plants and obstacles [to prevent others from parking] and then criticise others for being rude".

Some netizens speculated that residents were not pleased because their parking lots were occupied by the bikes.

However, there were others who argued that cement lanes are considered private property in Kaohsiung and that residents do pay property tax for them. They suggested that the police come forward to settle the disagreement before the next two shows this coming weekend.
