My Star Bride Tops List Of Trending Foreign Dramas On Youku 3 Days After Its Release On The Chinese Video Platform
Is there no limit to the enduring popularity of My Star Bride? It sure looks like it.
Earlier last week, it was announced that the series, which stars Chantalle Ng, 26, as Vietnamese bride Mei Fang Cao and Xu Bin, 33, as disabled lawyer Zhong Shijie aka Ge Ge, will be made available on Chinese video platform Youku to the delight of the drama’s Chinese fans.
Then, on April 10, it was revealed that My Star Bride managed to top the list of foreign dramas available on Youku, merely three days after its release. Say what?!
Hello, hot stuff
According to reports, My Star Bride managed to achieve a trending score of 5279, beating popular dramas like the Korean romance drama Now, We Are Breaking Up, as well as Thai drama Love Destiny.
The drama also ranked seventh on Youku’s trending list of romance dramas, with a score of 5647.
It's critically-approved too
A quick search also reveals that My Star Bride currently has a very respectable 8.3/10 rating over on Douban, which is China’s equivalent of review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes .
Of the 8,118 reviews, 44.5% were 4-star reviews, while 38.1% were 5-star reviews. Not bad at all.
Looks like people just can't forget Ge Ge and Fang Cao
In response to the drama’s strong performance, Chantalle shared a post on her Weibo, writing that she’s “very happy” to hear about the good news.

My Star Bride and its cast are also nominated for a slew of awards at Star Awards 2022, including Best Drama Serial, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.
