Netflix Adds 28 SG Movies, Series & Documentaries In August — Including Last Madame, Titoudao, And Wet Season
These titles will be added to the streaming service’s Singapore collection between Aug 4 and Aug 9.
Netflix is celebrating National Day by beefing up its homegrown content, with an additional 28 movies, series and documentaries to be launched on the platform between Aug 4 and Aug 9.
Netflix first dropped 106 local shows between August and October last year, followed by another batch of 18 titles in November.
The latest wave includes Mediacorp’s award-winning Titoudou: Inspired by a True Story of A Wayang, the adaptation of Goh Boon Teck’s play; and Last Madame, meWATCH’s first M18 drama starring Joanne Peh. (No word if this is the more explicit version Peh shot; if not, #ReleaseTheJoannePehCut!”).
In the features category, look out for Anthony Chen’s Golden Horse Award-feted Wet Season as well as the lesser-known 1400, the 2015 Desmond Tan-Ya Hui-led rom-com set in a hotel, Desmond Tan and Ya Hui, and the Mark Lee-produced Judgment Day, the 2013 doomsday comedy from Ong Kuo Sin, the director of Number 1.
Documentary fans can check out two acclaimed Tan Pin Pin offerings — Singapore Gaga, and A Time to Come, both look at everyday life in Singapore. There are also 10 Channel NewsAsia-produced documentaries making their Netflix debut, including the David Attenborough-narrated Wild Life: Forest Life and Wild Life: Secret World, and the investigative series Undercover Asia.
