Netflix’s Six Marvel Shows — Including Daredevil And The Punisher — To Stream On Disney+

Two weeks after they’ve been removed from Netflix, the streaming service’s Marvel shows — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders — have found a new home: they will be available on Disney+, beginning March 16.

The six former “Netflix Originals” were produced under a licencing agreement with Disney which owns Marvel; Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox as the visually-impaired vigilante, was the first to launch in 2015. The deal ended when Disney announced plans for its own streaming platform in 2017.

Netflix’s Marvel shows were all axed in 2018 and 2019 but (per Variety) a contract preventing these shows’ characters from appearing in any non-Netflix series or movies for at least two years after each one’s cancellation.

Daredevil was the first show to be freed from the contractual obligation and that led to Cox reprising his role in a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Vincent D'Onofrio who played Kingpin in the series turned up later as the crime boss in the Jeremy Renner-led Disney+ spin-off Hawkeye.

Netflix's Marvel shows to stream on Disney+ from March 16, 2022

Under one roof: Netflix's Marvel shows, produced between 2015 and 2019, will be part of Disney+'s Marvel content starting March 16, 2022.
