Netizens Accuse Zhang Ziyi Of Unfriending Former Magazine Editor After The Latter Left Her Job

Chinese businesswoman and fashion guru Su Mang is one of China's most well-connected people. For many years, the 49-year-old was the editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar China, a post that earned her many showbiz besties, including Zhang Ziyi, 42.
However, netizens are now saying that Ziyi and Su Mang's friendship has fizzled out after the latter resigned as the mag's EIC in 2018.
It all started after Ziyi uploaded photos of her with Carina Lau and Chinese singers Liu Yuxin and Meng Meiqi at an event in China. It all seemed innocuous enough until keen-eyed netizens noticed that a person had been cropped out from the photos after comparing them to other images taken at the same event.
The person who they claimed was cropped out was Su Mang, which led to wild speculation on what could have happened for Ziyi to cut her friend out of her pics.
The most popular theory by far was that Ziyi no longer sees Su Mang as useful to her since the latter is no longer in a position of power.
“This shows how realistic showbiz is. You’re discarded the minute you’re no longer relevant to a celeb, wrote one netizen.
What they didn't consider were other the possibilities such as Su Mang and Ziyi not being in the same frame at the same time when those pictures were taken — it's not hard to imagine the both of them flitting from group to group at the event — or if Ziyi just didn't have a snap of them together that she felt was Weibo-worthy.
