Ng Man Tat’s Last Wish Was To Be Buried In Malaysia To Be Close To Johor Bahru-Based Wife & Kids
February 27 marked the first anniversary of the death of veteran Hongkong star Ng Man Tat.
Fans took to social media to pay tribute to the late actor, who passed away from liver cancer at the age of 70.
It was also revealed that his resting place is not in Hongkong or Fujian where he was born, but Malaysia.
While many netizens expressed that “it’s a pity that he cannot return to his roots”, it was the actor’s last wish to be buried in Malaysia.
As his Malaysian wife Hou Shan Yan and kids live in Johor Bahru, it would be more convenient for his family to go pay respects to him.
Some netizens also pointed out that it is difficult to secure a burial plot in Hongkong’s cemeteries due to the shortage of space. A small cemetery plot can cost around 170,000 yuan (about S$36.6K).

He distributed his estate before his death
Man Tat, who also has three other daughters, two from his first marriage and another from a relationship with former actress Lo Siu Chi, had distributed his estate when he was diagnosed with heart failure in 2014.
According to Man Tat’s close friend, Hongkong producer Tin Kai Man, he had also appointed an estate executor to avoid any inheritance disputes.
Kai Man emphasised that the actor did not have financial problems, but neither did he have tens of millions in assets as rumored.
