Otah Seller Launches Leaf-Woven Minaudière Stuffed With “10 Sticks Of Chunky Mackerel Otah” For Valentine’s Day
But for those who have no use for a tiny handbag, here is an interesting alternative. Homegrown otah chain Lee Wee & Brothers has launched an Otah Minaudière, which the chain says is “handwoven with coconut leaves by two artisans”. You know, like the ketupat-style handbags from Bottega Veneta.
Whoa, so atas
Not to lose out to a high fashion house, the $138 clutch has its own specific shade of green called Grilled Avocado. And just so you can do your requisite luxury handbag unboxing video for V Day, the bag is packed in its own dust bag and laid on a beribboned box filled with a floral arrangement that includes a garden rose, amaranthus and orchids.
Wait, there’s more
While your average designer bag is stuffed with tissue paper, this minaudière is filled with “10 of Lee Wee & Brothers’ signature premium chunky mackerel fish otah, which are individually vacuum-sealed to hide the aroma and protect the interior of the bag.” So classy.
Like a couture creation, the otah maison cautions customers that its minaudière is “ornamental in nature and not meant for heavy usage”. And in case you want to pass this delicious heirloom to your grandkids, each bag comes with a set of care instructions on how to preserve the coconut leaf clutch and slow down its fading (but no, you can’t take it back to Lee Wee & Brothers for cleaning).
The $138 bundle also includes a cooler bag of Lee Wee & Brothers’ frozen products, like:
- 200g Mackerel Fish Otah Paste
- 200g Mackerel Fish & Prawn Otah Paste
- 200g Mackerel Fish & Squid Otah Paste
- 200g Mackerel Chunky Fish Otah Paste
- 300g Frozen Otah Fries
- 350g Frozen Otah Croquette
- 400g Frozen Honey Wings
We suppose if the missus doesn't like this gift, one can just eat up everything. Win-win.
The Otah Minaudière is available for preorder from Feb 1-10 via www.leeweebrothers.com. Delivery charge of $20 applies (delivery only on Feb 14; choose time slots from website), or self-collect from Lee Wee & Brothers’ Bedok Central Kitchen.
