Rosamund Kwan, 58, Age-Shamed For “Wearing So Little” At Event; Fans Defend Her Saying She’s “Still The Same Beautiful Woman”

For some reason, there are folks out there who see fit to decide if something is ‘age-appropriate’ for women to do or wear as if it's their life's mission, even though it really isn't.
Recently, netizens dug out a photo of Rosamund Kwan attending a fashion event looking as fabulous as ever in a strapless dress. However, instead of lauding the 58-year-old for her style and confidence, some very nasty people decided to resort to — you’ve guessed it — age-shaming.
“She’s getting on in years and she still wants to wear so little? She doesn’t look young at all, in fact, she looks very old-fashioned, and you can see the wrinkles all over her face,” reads one particularly mean comment.
One person even took it one step further and Photoshopped a small flower over the former Hongkong actress’ cleavage, making it seem like she had suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction (see below).
Some also critiqued her style: “Choosing something pink would’ve helped her out a little bit, but choosing dark clothes is simply tragic. She is old-fashioned and doesn’t know how to dress up. Can’t you just grow old quietly? Why must you come out and show your face?”
Fortunately, not everyone on the internet was such a bully.
Numerous fans stepped forward to defend Rosamund with far more encouraging remarks such as: “She is still the same beautiful woman from my memories”, “Her happiness is all that matters. Does someone have to hide when they’re old?” and “Do you see the goddess’ hard work? You’re only all talk”.
Some netizens also realised that the photos were actually taken at the opening of Hongkong fashion boutique The Swank’s first flagship store in Beijing… all the way back in 2009.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time Rosamund has been brutally age-shamed, though it's hardly made a dent in her popularity — not too long ago, she signed up for a Douyin account and gained a million followers in less than a day.
And besides, the ‘80s screen siren, who is said to be worth at least NT$2bil (S$96mil) thanks to her fashion business and real estate investments, probably can’t hear the haters over all that money she’s making.
