Shawn Yue Has His Aunt’s Face Tattooed On His Arm 'Cos He Regrets Not Getting To See Her Before She Died

It’s no secret that Hongkong actor Shawn Yue, 40, has a thing for tattoos — his arms are covered in ink, for starters — and he recently shared a video on his YouTube channel of himself getting his daughter's name tattooed on his neck.

In the clip, the father-of-two — daughter Celest is one and son Cody is three — also shared the stories behind some of his tattoos.

For Shawn, who is married to 33-year-old Taiwanese model Sarah Wang, tattoos are very personal. They represent things that are valuable to him and that he wants to keep close, like his loved ones.

His tattoos are mostly related to his family. He has his wife's name tattooed on him as well as a Charlie Brown tattoo, which he got when his son Cody turned one in 2019. |

He also has his grandmother and aunt’s likeness inked on his arms.

His first tattoo, which he got in New York, was a portrait of his grandmother on the top of his left arm.

The one of his aunt, his mum’s elder sister, whom he was very close to, was done after she passed away in 2013.

"When I was a child, I didn’t live with my parents. I lived with my aunt for many years. I often say that she was my second mum because she loved me so much. All my memories as a child are of my aunt,” he said.

“I used to spend time with her at home cutting thread and doing a lot of things that low income families used to do. She worked tirelessly throughout her life. My aunt had a great influence on me growing up."

One of his biggest regrets was not seeing her before she passed away.

Shawn recalled that he was filming in Thailand when his mum called and told him that his aunt was very ill and that he should return to Hongkong to see her for the last time.

“My instincts told me that things were not good. My mum said that my aunt could not hold out much longer, so I asked the director if I could go back to Hongkong and he agreed to let me leave after finishing the scene,” said Shawn tearfully.

However, he could not catch a flight back immediately and he only reached Hongkong the next day.
