Steven Ma Refutes Claim That A Late Fan Left Him S$17.4Mil In Their Will

Would you idolise someone so much to do that?

Now here’s a rumour that came out of left field. According to a news report, Hongkong actor Steven Ma is now HKD$100mil (S$17.4mil) richer because of a fan.

The report claimed that a late fan had left Steven that amount in their last will and testament, with just one condition — the 49-year-old actor must either use that money for charity or to develop the art scene.

1 of 2 Fake news alert

Steven initially ignored the report at first, and netizens took his silence as a tacit acknowledgement of the rumour. So, on August 16, the actor took to his social media to deny it.

Posting a picture of him in front of his computer screen, which was showing the report, Steven denied the news and even replied to a follower's comment: “ If it’s true, of course I’d be very happy to donate it to charity. But it’s a pity that it’s fake, [and the report] even claimed that someone had died, how immoral!”.

In an interview with Oriental Daily News, Steven again reiterated that the report was false, saying: “ There’s no such thing! What proof do you have? I don’t wish for my years of hard work to be derailed by rumours like this.”

2 of 2 Grooming the next generation

Steven took over TVB’s artiste training department earlier this year, overseeing the coaching of new actors.

In another interview, Steven, who’s currently teaching a class of 26 aspiring actors, said he hopes for his protégés to be morally upright.
