Trailer watch: Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa, Megan Fox, 50 Cent join mayhem in Expendables 4
The Expendables are back for another round of chaos and mayhem.
The trailer for Expendables 4 or Expend4bles, the latest instalment of the Sylvester Stallone-created action franchise, has dropped and this time, the veteran mercenaries (Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture) are joined by newbies, including Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Megan Fox, Andy Garcia, Jacob Scipio and Levy Tran.
At this point, we aren’t sure what kind of mess Barney Ross (Stallone) has got his people into and who the bad guys are but we do know that Fox’s character once had romantic entanglements with Statham’s knife-thrower Lee Christmas. That, and there’s going to be plenty of explosions.
Featuring action icons from the ’80s and ’90s, the first Expendables came out in 2010 and made US$274 million (S$370 mil) worldwide. Two sequels followed, one in 2012 and another in 2014, which grossed US$315 million and US$215 million, respectively.
Unlike the first two movies, which are R-rated, the third chapter was a PG13 affair. Expend4bles is expected to be — how should we put this? — less kid-friendly.
