The series will premiere on HBO Go on July 8.

Gossip Girl, your go-to blogger for the low-down on the Manhattan’s powerful and privileged — as seen as the eyes of the stylish, self-absorbed, sex-obsessed teens at a posh prep school — is back.

HBO Go has dropped the first teaser for the Gossip Girl reboot, which arrives nearly a decade after the original series ended its six-season, 121-episode run in December 2012. It will launch on July 8, same time as the US.

Developed by showrunner Joshua Safran (who worked as an executive producer and writer on the original show), the revival is set “eight years after the original website went dark” and is said to be based on both the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar and the TV series.

Back in the day: the cast of the original 'Gossip Girl' circa 2007 — (from left) Penn Badgley, Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, and Leighton Meester.

Gossip Girl 2.0 features a cast of fresh faces, with non-white actors and LGBTG storylines. No word on the grown-up characters, but if it’s drawing from the original TV series, maybe older versions of Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) might drop in?

The new 10-part series stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak and Savannah Lee Smith.

As of now, the only familiar face, or rather voice is that of Kristen Bell’s. She’s back to provide the voice-over narration as the blogger. In the original series, it’s revealed that she’s actually the alter ego of Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley).

So who is the identity of the new Gossip Girl? And how many years do we have to wait to find out the answer? Check out the character posters.
