Wang Leehom’s Mother Allegedly Disapproved Of His Rumoured Ex-Girlfriends A-Mei & Shu Qi ’Cos Of This Reason
If you haven't heard, Wang Leehom, 45, and his wife of eight years, Lee Jinglei, are officially no more.
And rumour has it that their marriage broke down because Jinglei, 35, couldn't get along with his mother.
According to Hongkong media outlet HK01, Leehom's mum has had a lot of influence on his love life and is the reason his rumoured relationships with A-Mei and Shu Qi were cut short.

A-Mei & Leehom have always maintained that they are just good friends
While Leehom has never admitted to seeing either stars, he is believed to have dated A-Mei in the early 2000s.
As for Shu Qi, they were reportedly together from 2006 to 2008, and were rumoured to have given their romance a second go from 2011 to 2012.

Shu Qi and Leehom were once snapped shopping for rings
At that time, rumours were rife that Leehom and Shu Qi were getting married as the pair had been spotted shopping for rings. However, the wedding never happened because Leehom’s mother allegedly disapproved of the relationship, and it led to them breaking up for good.
It's said that Mama Wang places a lot of emphasis on academic qualifications — Leehom graduated from the Berklee College of Music, his older brother, a pediatrician, did his undergraduate degree at Yale, and his younger brother is a MIT graduate — and expects her daughters-in-law to be just as highly educated.
Rumour has it that she disapproved of both Shu Qi and A-Mei because they didn't excel academically — Shu Qi dropped out of high school while A-Mei went to National Taitung Junior College.
In comparison, her now ex-daughter-in-law Jinglei is a graduate of the Columbia University, which is of course an Ivy League school.
