Will Smith Jokes About Instagram Comeback With A Meta Post About His Social Media Return

Will Smith has joked about his return to social media following his Oscars controversy.

Smith, who shocked everyone at the awards ceremony in March when he hit comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has now quipped about his return to social media following the high-profile incident.

The 53-year-old actor, who has more than 63 million Instagram followers, posted on Friday (Aug 19) a video clip of a baby gorilla poking an enormous gorilla from behind in an effort to attract some attention.

He captioned the tongue-in-cheek post: "Me trying to get back on social."

The post has so far been liked by more than 1.6 million people. Among those commenting on the post was former National Geographic personality Cesar Millan, who wrote, “Animal kingdom is with you Will.” Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, responded too, with a heart emoji.

This is the disgraced Oscar winner's first Instagram post since his July 29 YouTube video apology for the infamous altercation.

In that video, Smith said, "So I will say to you, Chris, I apologise to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Following his gorilla video, Smith uploaded another Instagram post, this time of him and son Trey — from his first marriage to Sheree Zampino — freaking out over a big spider in their hotel room. Smith captioned the video, "Posting this from a Holiday Inn."

Smith's Instagram return comes just days after Variety reported that his Q Scores, Hollywood's standard for quantifying celebrities' star power and appeal, have dipped considerably since the Oscars-gate.— BANG SHOWBIZ
