Rumours are intensifying that singer Celine Dion will be making a comeback during the Paris Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Entertainment outlet TMZ has reported – after she was spotted checking into the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris on Monday (Jul 22) – that their "sources with direct knowledge" have told them that Dion "is getting ready to take the stage Friday".
Dion will also reportedly be paid US$2 million (S$2.69 million) for the performance – for just one song.
The outlet added an insider had insisted Dion is “feeling fine” amid her health fight.
No official announcements have been made although French President Emmanuel Macron has told French broadcaster France 2 that he "would be immensely happy if she could be at this opening ceremony, like all our compatriots".
The 56-year-old My Heart Will Go On singer was forced to stop performing following her 2022 diagnosis of the rare condition Stiff Person Syndrome, which she chronicled in her Prime Video documentary I Am: Celine Dion.
Dion has performed at the Olympics before, singing The Power Of The Dream at the opening ceremony for the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.
