Fans of Korean shows here will continue having it good in 2024. Streaming platform Disney+ recently revealed a few of its upcoming Korean programmes with "more titles set to be announced in the weeks and months to come".

Returning for a third season is the hit variety show The Zone: Survival Mission with Yoo Jae-suk and Girls' Generation's Yuri back in the fray. Although Lee Kwang-soo has announced that he will not be returning this season, fans can still expect a whole lot of laughter with two new hosts: Former MMA star Kim Dong-hyun and Single Inferno's Kim Jin-young aka Dex.

Together, the foursome will get up to hilarious hijinks as they try to survive a range of challenges.

K-drama fans can also witness history in the making this year as acclaimed actor Song Kang-ho (Parasite and The Host) stars in his very first drama series Uncle Samsik. Set in the '60s, the show follows an idealistic politician and a mysterious political fixer called Uncle Samsik who operates in the shadows.

Together, they form an uneasy partnership to transform a struggling post-war Korea into a prosperous country.

Other shows that fans can look forward to include Blood Free and Light Shop, both of which star Kingdom actor Ju Ji-hoon. The former follows a former bodyguard who is recruited to protect the CEO of a controversial lab-grown meat company. The latter is an adaptation of a popular webtoon and follows a group of struggling strangers, drawn to a light shop that sits at the end of a seedy alleyway.

Carol Choi, Executive Vice President of Original Content Strategy at The Walt Disney Company APAC, said: “The new Korean originals announced today really build on the positive momentum and success of our APAC content slate last year. We will continue to scale our creative ambition with a curated collection of APAC originals, centred on quality storytelling and top talent, in collaboration with the region’s most exciting storytellers.”
