It’s not a bird or a plane. It’s a dragon made up of 1,500 drones. Visitors can usher in Chinese New Year with a 10-minute drone performance, titled The Legend Of The Dragon Gate, lighting up the sky above the Marina Bay waterfront for six days in February – for free.

The show, which is part of a partnership between the Singapore Tourism Board, Marina Bay Sands and UOB, will run at 8pm on Feb 6, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18.

The Legend Of The Dragon Gate will follow the story of the mythical Dragon King while featuring themes of family reunion and perseverance, as well as symbols of luck and prosperity, said the three organisations in a joint press release on Thursday (Jan 25).

After the drone show, visitors can also stay for Spectra – A Light & Water Show, which runs at 8.30pm and 9.30pm on the same dates.

To complement the dragon drone show, the three partners are giving UOB cardholders a series of promotions for hotels, attractions and dining. This includes dining privileges at Marina Bay Sands’ celebrity chef and signature restaurants CUT by Wolfgang Puck, KOMA Singapore, Maison Boulud by Daniel Boulud and Mott 32.
