Ahead of Burberry's Fall/Winter 2024 fashion show in London on Monday night (Feb 19), some notable celebrity friends of the English fashion label were spotted getting in the mood. Thai singer-actor Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree, Korean thespian Jun Ji-hyun and Chinese actress Tang Wei were all separately seen wearing the iconic Burberry check as they arrived in the fashion capital for the event.
Kingdom actress Jun Ji-hyun was spotted at the airport sporting an oversized plaid wool scarf around her neck. Which incidentally, was a topnotch lesson on street style as the 42-year-old demonstrated how it can liven up an otherwise sombre winter ensemble, as well as add an aura of mysterious chic K-actresses pull off so well.
Meanwhile, Lust, Caution actress Tang Wei was spotted going low-key with a comfy-chic getup. But those striking wool joggers that were nonchalantly tucked into leather sneakers were just too striking to make it past the eagle-eyed paparazzi.
Meanwhile, Thai singer-actor Bright, who was already in London, was a step ahead of his female peers. The 26-year-old showed up at Burberry's pre-show pop-up at Harrods in a stunning utilitarian shade of army green. There's no doubt that the checkered dress pants he wore will be flying off the shelves, pronto.
The Burberry check design has been continuously reimagined by creative head Daniel Lee since his high-profile addition in 2022 – Lee left his top job at Bottega Veneta for Burberry. An unmistakable brand code, Lee has been turning this heritage icon into a brand new signature, one collection at a time.
In Lee's ingenious hands, the check has turned up in on-trend colour combinations of burgundy and blue, turquoise and grey, charcoal and red, in everything from cool varsity jackets to pleated dresses to fringed scarves to rubber Wellingtons to embroidered ballet flats.
But if it’s an on-point bag you’re after at this point, this Peg bag on 41-year-old English model Jacquetta Wheeler with a brushed metal peg is slated for the fast track to becoming a must-have of the season.
