Fans who had eagerly been anticipating the dragon drone show, jointly organised by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and UOB, on Tuesday (Feb 6) were left disappointed after MBS announced in a Facebook post at 2pm that it had "been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances".

The Legend Of The Dragon Gate: Drone Show By The Bay, which sees 1,500 drones forming a dragon that's hovering over Marina Bay, had been slated to premiere on Tuesday. Now, its first show will instead be at 8pm on Saturday (Feb 10). Subsequent shows will then be held at the same time on Feb 11, 12, 16, 17 and 18.

In its post, MBS added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the changes and look forward to ushering in the Year of the Dragon with you."

However, a few commenters expressed their disappointment at the news, with one of them claiming that he had changed his flight just to catch the Feb 6 show.

In a previous press release, organisers said that The Legend Of The Dragon Gate will follow the story of the mythical Dragon King while featuring themes of family reunion and perseverance, as well as symbols of luck and prosperity.

Although the event is free, those who want a prime view of the drone display can opt to witness it from the SkyPark Observation Deck, 56 storeys in the sky, for just S$57. Tickets can be purchased at this website.
